Training
SMASH offers training to professionals and volunteers working with Children & Young People (CYP). We are committed to seeing as many youth practitioners as possible in our communities trained in Mental Health First Aid for CYP and supporting CYP using a Trauma-Informed approach.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Youth
Most suitable for: Adults working with young people aged 8-18 years
Mental Health First Aid Youth is a 2-day course that provides a foundational understanding of young people’s mental health, enabling you to spot the signs of poor mental health and take steps to get the right support young people need.
By participating in this MHFA England registered course, you will develop a comprehensive toolkit for recognising, offering support in a mental health crisis. You will develop the skills and confidence to support each young person on their terms.
Training is available in-person and online (subject to availability). Please email training@teamsmash.org.uk for more information.
Trauma-Informed Champions Training
Most suitable for: Adults working with young people who have lived experience of trauma.
Endorsed by KCA (Knowledge Change Action), Trauma-Informed Champions is a programme that provides you with the knowledge and expertise to become a trauma-informed champion, breaking down barriers with young people who may have experienced past trauma.
Informed by the 5 to Thrive and Mending Hurts model, you will learn the fundamental building blocks for connecting with young people, establishing yourself as a reflective practitioner who understands the impact of collective and individual trauma.
Training can be delivered either in-person or online over the course of 1 day. Please email training@teamsmash.org.uk for more information.
