Our Rename

What is your new name?

• We will be changing our name from SMASH Youth Project to Young Swindon and Wiltshire.

Why have you changed your name?

• After years of providing support to the young people of Swindon SMASH is expanding. To reflect this, and to coincide with us rolling out our services across Wiltshire we are changing our name
• We have changed our name because having listened to young people for the last 12 months we want to better reflect our values and meet the needs of the young people we work with.
• After 12 months consultation with young people, we were realised “SMASH” presented an increasing barrier to young people working with us, understanding what we do, and feel confident talking about us to others. Our staff  have also often been confused with MASH Swindon, making things more complicated!
• So, to celebrate 25 years of working with young people, we’ve decided it’s time for a change, creating a name that best showcases our commitment to young people!

What will change?

• As part of our rename, our working name, logo, website URL, email addresses and social media handles will change. However, our staff, values and innovative projects continue unchanged – we are the same great people, delivering consistent and high-quality support to young people!

What will stay the same?

• Our brilliant team, our innovative projects, our caring and collaborative spirit, and of course, our iconic blue! Whilst we may look a little bit different, our mission to ensure young people get the support they need when they need it, no matter what is unchanged.

When will this change happen?

• We will be changing our working name from 1st December 2025. On this day, we will be changing our website URL, email addresses and social media handles. However, we will also remind you of our name change before, during and several months after this date.

Will this impact my relationship with my youth worker?

• Short answer – no! Long answer – our team will continue to work with you in a way you are used to (as decided the project they are linked to). All that will be different is the name of where they come from!

What if I forget your new name and don’t know how to contact you?

• Don’t worry, you won’t! We are doing plenty of work behind the scenes, making sure you are kept up to date with all the changes. Even when we have changed our name, we will be using our original email addresses and will include the words “previously known as SMASH” across our communications for several months.

What does this mean for project funding and finances?

• Nothing, for now. All our internal, legal and financial structures will function as a dual role for the next little while to allow us to transition to our new name smoothly.
